Strap in for a long recommendation–I have a LOT of good things to say about The Food Guy Catering! For a disorganized, hot mess, everything-sounds-good-how-about-you-decide kind of bride like me, Ben was the absolute IDEAL caterer. Perfect. Unimprovable.
We live hours away from our wedding venue, but I trusted him so much after our initial phone call that I sent family members to do the wedding tasting dinner on our behalf. You immediately get the sense from talking to him that he’s an absolute pro: he has backup plans upon backup plans if catastrophe strikes on your big day, he’s happy to switch out ingredients or make entirely new entrees to accommodate dietary restrictions, and (according to our taste-testers) he was relaxed and in control in the kitchen, finalizing each dish to be hot and ready at exactly the same time.
When I called him a few weeks before the wedding and asked if we could add coffee service, he said no problem–and only charged me $50 extra. They were happy to discuss the contract, letting us make persnickety additions here and there until we were confident everything was covered (and felt okay writing the biggest check yet of our young lives…haha). Oh! And when I forgot to give our officiant a black folder to hold her script in, Jess (Ben’s wife and partner) jumped in to help her find a suitable replacement ten minutes before the ceremony so that they wouldn’t have to ask me and stress me out. 
They gave us recommendations for other vendors, worked seamlessly with our venue (owned by some family friends), made sure we got plenty to eat at the reception, and were always flexible and warm, no matter what chaos we threw at them. Also: ICE CREAM CAKE AT OUR WEDDING. Oh my goodness! It was so memorable, and our guests still bring it up!
Throughout the entire process, even though we had no idea how to work with a vendor or what questions to ask, Ben and Jess shepherded us through and made us feel like everything was going to work out perfectly. And it did. I can’t believe we got all of the amazing service (and great food!) that we did for the price that Ben and Jess charged us; on top of everything, they offer a fantastic value. So much bang for so few bucks!
If you’re reading this and considering booking them, DO IT. I promise you won’t regret it! I hated almost every part of the wedding planning process, but every time I had a phone call with Ben, I would hang up completely calm, breathing a big sigh of relief. The food was great, don’t get me wrong…but the value and the service were STELLAR. I cannot say enough good things about The Food Guy Catering Company!
